FREE FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT: The festival opens at Rockwell Park in Bristol with a welcoming Opening Ceremony at 10 a.m. Prepaid 21+ ticket holders can then enjoy a unique Sushi-Sake Sail aboard the Schooner Aurora from Goat Island in Newport at 2 p.m. The day concludes back at Rockwell Park with an energetic evening of Taiko drumming and jazz performances, bringing Japanese culture and music to life.


Saturday

FREE FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT: Saturday is the heart of the festival, running from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Independence Park in Bristol. Attendees can explore cultural exhibits, performances, and hands-on activities for all ages.

The evening features the elegant Black Ships Festival Gala at Ochre Court in Newport from 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with fine dining, entertainment, and a special auction celebrating Japanese art.

August 16th
FREE FAMILY FRIENDLY EVENT: The festival concludes with a day of reflection and celebration. The morning begins with the Commodore Matthew C. Perry Remembrance at Rockwell Park at 10 a.m. Later, at 12 noon, prepaid 21+ ticket holders can enjoy a final Sushi-Sake Sail aboard the Schooner Aurora, providing a festive and scenic farewell while commemorating the historic ties between Rhode Island and Japan.
